Assistant District Attorney Dobbs Receives Wildlife Award

Assistant District Attorney Donovan Dobbs recently was awarded "District Attorney of the Year" by the Oklahoma State Game Warden Association. His nomination was based primarily on his personal involvement in prosecuting wildlife cases in Cherokee County in northeastern Oklahoma.
"Mr. Dobbs has represented the sportsmen well by personally reviewing each wildlife case before it is filed", said Game Warden Brady May. "If the case or the individual merits attention, he requests additional fines or revocation of hunting or fishing license privileges for up to one year. He has prosecuted cases involving bald eagle feathers, deer, river otter, and fresh water mussels in addition to various wildlife commission regulations. It's important that misdemeanor wildlife cases receive attention when prosecutors are overburdened with felony caseloads. He makes sure wildlife cases don't get lost in the shuffle and follows every case through", said May.

OSGWA President Tony Clark presented Mr. Dobbs with his award at the association's annual summer banquet in Norman. He and his wife participated in the banquet activities and also won a shotgun in the general drawing. He was proud to return to Norman to visit his alma mater at Oklahoma University. "We were proud to honor Assistant District Attorney Dobbs for his dedication and commitment to prosecuting wildlife crimes," said Clark.

"I believe that game wardens have one of the toughest jobs in law enforcement. Fighting for the cases they bring in is one of the best ways to honor them. I will always cherish this award", said Mr. Dobbs. He serves in District 27 which includes Wagoner, Cherokee, Sequoyah and Adair Counties.
